ABOUT
MEET THE MAKER
Alain Rousseau – Senior Winemaker
Alain’s winemaking is a true expression of what Frogmore Creek is all about; balance, engaging and elegance. With a subtle reference to his formal French training paired with his knowledge of Tasmania and the cool climate growing region, Alain has developed his own distinct winemaking style and techniques. Alain will say his approach is ‘Lazy winemaking – we want the fruit to do the work’.
Far from the traditional sense of the word, Alain’s ability to get the best out of the grapes with minimal intervention is a credit to his winemaking ability. Alain and his team produce beautifully balanced wines, which are great with food and age elegantly over time. In saying that, hidden below this approach is another level of Alain. An innovator, who uses experimental techniques to produce a range of complex, unconventional and intriguing wines under the Winemakers Reserve label.
Regardless of the project, the grapes or the brand, Alain’s passion for his trade shines through in all of the wines he produces, becoming an authentic reflection of Frogmore Creek.
Our Vineyards
Meet the Vineyard Manager
Danny Belbin
Danny, a fifth generation farmer from the Coal River Valley, manages our two vineyards in Cambridge and Campania. Using his knowledge of the area together with his own creative and innovative ideas Danny and his team are working with the land to produce the highest quality in grape production. Talking to Danny and understanding the techniques he uses only highlights his family history of sustainable farming which now runs through the veins of our vineyards.
His sheep farming background is evident from May till spring when his Black Suffolk’s graze the vineyard; a multipurpose method to sustainably maintain the land whilst nourishing the sheep before lambing. Danny and his team are responsible for the nurturing and development of the vineyards, securing the future of our grape production and the continued growth of Frogmore Creek for generations.
