Vintage Report 2012.
We are now towards the end of the 2012 vintage and it is possible to assess the quality of the wines.
This year the yield was quite low in the Coal River Valley, 30 to 50% lower than average and with the beautiful warm weather we had in March and April the grapes maturation was 3 weeks earlier than normal. We did not have any real disease pressure in the vineyard and the fruits were extremely clean and exempt of alterations.
The whites are fruity, well balanced with a good acid structure and nice aromatic components. With a low crop the reds are very concentrated with a great tannin structure, rich and full with some vibrant red colour. The volume of this vintage will be low but the potential in quality and ageing will be terrific.
